Did Jessica Leave SNSD or was She Forced to Leave?
There have been various rumors circulating regarding of this event. From Dispatch, it was explained that it involved two parties, Jessica and SM Entertainment. Long before her leaving, Jessica had told her fellow members that she wanted to continue her business, and she could get married if she was no longer an SNSD member anymore. Jessica also aspired to continue her study in New York. She even hinted that she couldn’t do this anymore (being active as a Girls Generation member), even though we make any assumptions about her condition when she made those statements. SM Entertainment and Girls Generation have never stopped the members from pursuing their dreams; it was never stated in the contract. So, Jessica’s dreams to do her business company weres never prohibited by the label. A couple of times, she even left for New York, China, and Hong Kong for business-related issues, with the help of her boyfriend, Tyler Kwon, who also she plans on marrying. Jessica had her chances to do everything, and come one day before the fan meeting in China which was part of of Girls Generation’s schedule. During this kind of incident, SM Entertainment may have been thinking about her focus on Girls Generation’s schedule. It may also have brought this up, although Jessica also change her mind that she will continue to cheer together with Girls Generation on their upcoming new album in 2015. But looking to her situation in promote her watch and sunglasses in several countries, it sometimes seemed like Girls Generation was her second priority. SM Entertainment also assumed that Jessica could use her fame as member of Girls Generation to attract the group’s fans to her business. So many problems and so much intrigue were happening since it started to her leaving.

Before that, Jessica and all the members were meeting to discuss these matters. The members supported her dreams, and wanted her to continue being a Girls Generation member was the best way to respect the fans and the group members. In September, they had an internal meeting to talk about their long promotion schedule for their upcoming album. Jessica was saying that she would continue with SNSD, but she4 changed her mind after meeting with her lawyer,who called in Sejong with her boyfriend. She said, “if you have any complaints, please sign your names and submit it.” The members of the group discussed it two or three times, and Jessica suddenly left for New York, so no more discussion could be had. She returned just one day before the SNSD scheduled fan meeting in China. This wasn’t the only incident like this, there were issues popping up here and there.
Jessica’s Statement
RealSamchon, the trusted internal information source, explained that Jessica was initially supposed to go on hiatus after Girls’ Generation finished their Japan dome tour on the 24th, but she got an email saying that she was no longer a member of Girls Generation in August. Jessica gave statement, “I was excited about our upcoming fan events, only to shockingly be informed by my company and 8 others that as of today, I’m no longer a member. I’m devastated – my priority and love is to serve as a member of GG, but for no justifiable reason, I am being forced out..” Her official statement also said, “Hello, this is Jessica. I’m here to let you know that after negotiating with SM Entertainment, we have ended our contract and have officially decided to go our separate ways. I cherish the times I have had with SM Entertainment, and I hope that there will be good fortune lying ahead for SM Entertainment. And also, to all my cherished fans, I’m always thankful for your unchanging support and love. I will do my best to show you what you are anticipating from me, so I’ll be grateful if you could watch over my new start.”
SM Entertainment’s Statement
SM Entertainment also released the message regarding about this, saying, “Hello. This is SM Entertainment. After discussing with Jessica, who has been an artist under SM Entertainment this past while, we have both decided to go our separate ways for the progress of each. Please cheer on Jessica who will be starting a new beginning.”
Jessica’s Business, BLANC & ECLARE
Jessica was then free to continue her business with a full heart, and focus on BLANC & ECLARE. Blanc & Eclare contains luxury fashion brands producing eyewear, denim, clothing, skincare, and accessories. BLANC, itself, means “clean and crisp,” and launched in August 2014. This fashion brand was started with her boyfriend, who helped in investing and promoting the brand. BLANC was about sunglasses when it first launched in August. Later on, it added various products, including accessories, perfume, and clothing, which in the beginning, started with the Fall/Winter 2015 collection. The Jessica brands were started in Hong Kong with the help of Tyler Kwon, even in the large editorial store, Lane Crawford, in Hong Kong. Jessica is now also opening in other locations like Singapore, China, Shanghai, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, and Canada. ECLARE, which launched later, means “clarity and brightness,” which is derived from the Latin root Clara. Jessica explained that she got inspiration in fashion through her mother. She finds that traveling to different cities was her inspiration to look for different cultural styles and colors.
