The two groups worked with each other when they formed WJMK (short for Wuju Meki), a girl group from South Korea which is a collaborative product between Starship Entertainment and Fantagio Music. WJMK itself has members from a combination of two girl groups, namely Seola and Luda from WJSN as well as Choi Yoo-jung, and Kim Do-yeon from Weki Meki. WJMK’s Debut Era
On May 2nd, 2018, Starship and Fantagio confirmed that they would be making a special unit of collaboration project group called WJMK that will be having a ‘cutie crush’ concept. The 4 members of the group were confirmed to be WJSN’s Seola and Luda, and Weki Meki’s Yoojung and Doyeon. The group began posting teaser images on May 9th, 2018, through a pair of criss-cross members, with two main concepts: green and blue. Seola and Doyeon were the first pairings of the group. Followed by Yoojung and Luda pairing on the next day. On May 15th, 2020, the group also dropped their ‘blue’ version by pairing Doyeon and Seola. Followed by Yoojung and Luda. The group then confirmed that they would debut on June 1st, 2020, with a digital single titled “Strong”.
Music Video
Since the photo teasers, it was clear that the group went on a bright cheery concept with two primary colors: green and blue. It turned out that they also released two versions of their debut MV for “Strong”.
In the blue version, the girls were wearing the same exact outfits from their teaser, while they danced in front of the blue wall. The blue color palette gave off the ‘cool’ vibe of the MV with the girls appearing sporty. The music video switch scenes from indoor and outdoor while the property is vibrant and festive.
Meanwhile, the ‘green’ version mostly showed the performance MV version of the group, although still filled with a face zoom-in of the members here and there. The girls’ primary outfit in the MV is the exact replica of their ‘green’ teasers.
Debut Stage
The group made their first stage performance at the Pepsi Concerts in 2018. Since the group’s collaboration was mainly for a commercial purpose, the group never went on performing in music shows. Although there is only one footage of the group’s performance together, their performance really brought joy to the viewers.
